If the Toy Lending Library is open, it’s because a volunteer member is there as a Volunteer On Duty (VOD). VODs work in two-hour shifts to open and close the play space, greet visitors, answer questions, and check toys in and out of the toy library. The VOD function is vital to the operation of the Toy Library; if a VOD is not available to maintain operations of the PTLL, the library has to close.
That said, whether you’re a visitor, a member, or a VOD, your child comes first. We’re all parents or caregivers of young children, and we can wait while the VOD attends to her child’s needs. Find out membership on this web site. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org for additional information.
Contribute a Talent or Skill
Because the operation of the PTLL is handled entirely by volunteers, we are always looking for people to contribute specialized skills. From graphic design to technical support to accounting, if you know how to do something and are willing to donate a few hours to the organization, we would love to have your help. Let the president know of your skill, and you may be able to attain friend of the board status or fully join the board: email@example.com.
Help with Toy Cleaning
Our toys are well loved and played with daily. While our volunteers clean toys that have been placed in the dirty toy buckets on a daily basis, we also schedule regular play space cleanups, during which all of our floor toys are wiped down. In addition, we close for a brief period in late August/early September for a volunteer-driven total cleanup of the play space, and we rely on everyone who uses the PTLL pitching in to get the job done!
Join the Board / Attend Board Meetings
All members are welcome to attend meetings of the Board of Directors (generally scheduled the second Saturday of the month at 8:00 am), and openings on the Board of Directors are advertised throughout the organization. Learn more about our Board of Directors.
Spread the Word
While we do limited advertising, most families find out about the PTLL through word of mouth. So if you visited and had a good time, please tell a friend!
