Families with children birth through kindergarten may join the PTLL. Children may be PTLL members until the summer after they finish kindergarten.
In any given year, more than 150 families are members of the Pittsburgh Toy Lending Library. Some have lived in Pittsburgh for generations and others are from countries around the world and are temporarily calling Pittsburgh home.
The Pittsburgh Toy Lending Library relies on its volunteer membership to work together to keep the place running. Everyone contributes a little bit to make great big things happen! Learn more about volunteering as a member. We also welcome non-volunteer members and appreciate their support for our wonderful play space and programs.
If you come often, you will find that it is more economical to join as a member than to pay the per-visit fee. Membership support enables us to continue a long tradition of providing a safe, playful, and imaginative environment for our children to enjoy.
How To Become a Member
To become a member, you can apply online or fill out a Membership Application and return it to us either by dropping it off at the PTLL or by mailing it to us (our address is printed on the application).

Note: The Toy Library’s membership is based on a 12-month membership year that starts the month a member joins and is up for renewal the same month the following calendar year. (We are closed for two weeks in August during our annual deep-clean and Toy Library Inventory.)
The PTLL offers subsidized memberships to families who need them or pro-rated memberships for families who are only in town for a short period of time. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
A family membership includes any adult who is caring for your children. A grandparent, aunt, nanny, or other adult may bring your child to the PTLL under your membership. Volunteer hours may also be performed by any caregiver of your children who has completed the required volunteer training.
We do not offer reimbursements for past visits when someone purchases a membership, however we do waive the visitor fee if the person is turning in an application with payment same day.
